After travelling around Europe in-particular Italy where the coffee culture is booming, we had an idea of turning our love of coffee and food into reality and using the current coffee culture to our advantage.  With Gary having over 20 years worth of experience in the pub and butchery trade and his wife Emily being a keen baker, they team

After travelling around Europe in-particular Italy where the coffee culture is booming, we had an idea of turning our love of coffee and food into reality and using the current coffee culture to our advantage.  With Gary having over 20 years worth of experience in the pub and butchery trade and his wife Emily being a keen baker, they teamed up to create Graystones.  The name being a variation of Greystones in Ireland where Gary’s family currently live. 

With over 25 years of customer service between them Graystones in Duxford was  created in March 2018, after taking over the Wheatsheaf Pub in the heart of Duxford Village and turning it into a coffee shop and bistro.  Supplying locally sourced quality ingredients where possible for our popular Pizza, sandwiches, salads and breakfast menu, and home-baked cakes, tray bakes and delicious treats, as well as locally roasted coffee beans from the Brew Project and meat supplied by Cambridge Mill Road Butchers turning Graystones into a hub for the community.  

In March 2020, when covid hit, we had to adapt and make slight changes but still trying to keep supporting the community as best we could with offering takeaways and sticking to continuous changing restrictions.  After a lot of hard-work we managed to come out the other side stronger but with the hospitality industry changing so much over the last 6 and a bit years and the recent flood in January 2024 we have had to adapt yet again.  With the help of James coming on board, we have managed to add accommodation to the business and will be continuing to expand with the help of James’s valued experience in the building and construction industry.  

There will be lots of exciting changes to come! 

Our menu is developed with a family friendly, relaxed vibe in mind! Brownie boxes and birthday cakes can also be made to order.  Food off of our menu can either be eaten in (also available in our lovely garden weather permitting!) or taken away.  Food is also available for preorder if you‘re in a rush.
